Huron also had a cement terminal in Superior Bay. That one is still active.
David Schauer posted Recognize this spot? The silos are a dead give-away as this is Pier B and Huron Cement's facility with an unidentified laker there (any guesses?). Duluth, MN 1956 - Basgen Photography Nathan Leindecker: Crapo Harrimans stack is shorter. Makes it easier. |
Dennis DeBruler commented on David's post Like grain elevators, concrete silos are a testament to the strength of reinforced concrete. They cost too much to tear down. https://www.google.com/maps/@46.7751144,-92.1034189,110a,35y,39.45t/data=!3m1!1e3?entry=ttu |
I downloaded this before I noticed that David mentioned the silos are still standing.

For My reference: That aerial file is a gold mine of info for Duluth, so I saved it as Duluth.Huron under Aerials under LocalDad.
