SP Roundhouse: (
Satellite, what makes that round circle? I don't think it is the location of the former turntable.)

Alex Carry posted Jeffrey Williams: Photos of the Southern Pacific Roundhouse in Ogden, Utah. Taken down in 1954. My great grandfather and grandfather worked there. [A comment indicates that the turntable had been upgraded to 135'.] |
Using a platform as part of the museum's display of its
roster helped save the platform canopy.

TheUnionStation "The Station now houses three museums, Utah State Railroad Museum, John M. Browning Firearms Museum, Browning-Kimball Classic Car Museum, three fine arts galleries and Warren’s Train Shop, Union Grill Restaurant, the U.S. Forest Service Information, and the Union Station Library." [This web site is broke so I could not get to the Weddings and Birthday Caboose web pages.] |

UtahStories But they have deferred a lot of maintenance so now the building is a problem. |

The 50-year lease of the station from UP expires on Dec 31, 2026. On Dec 6, 2022, the city agreed to buy the 8.06 acres of land for $5,562,044. [

The tracks going North and South out of town are also Union Pacific. Note that his map was made a year after the SP roundhouse burned down.

The blue rectangle highlights the DRG&W roundhouse, green denotes SP and yellow denotes UP. I notice there is a round circle east of the SP roundhouse, but it is in a different location than today's
round circle.

Tim Starr posted In 1923 the Southern Pacific made plans for a larger roundhouse and shops to be shared by the Union Pacific at Ogden, Utah. However these plans were never carried out, since the UP decided to build its own roundhouse. Just interesting to see all the planning that went into shops and terminals. |
