This town was on the Wabash route between Brunswick and Omaha. Brunswick was on the mainline to Kansas City.

In addition to the CB&Q and Wabash, the Milwaukee Road also used to go through this town. According to a 2004 SPV Map, the Milwaukee Road is now operated by ICE, and the Wabash route to the east is operated by Chillicothe-Brunswick Rail Maintenance Authority (CBRM). The Wabash route to the west and the CB&Q are abandoned.

All three railroads used to cross each other on the east side of town. CBRM uses the CB&Q route (south of the depot) in town and the Wabash route to the east.

Chillicothe was on the CB&Q mainline between Quincy and Kansas City.

The grain elevator is also a rather big feed mill. I think this may be the first 18-wheel feed truck that I have seen. They are normally various sizes of a straight truck.

The feed mill has been in business since 1867.

It looks like the feed mill gets rail service. Sometimes losing your Class I railroads is good because that allows shortlines to serve the town.
