John Cowgill: DC Railroad Examiner posted Old Train Station, Marlinton, West Virginia, U.S.A.
Jim Kelling: It’s a faithful reconstruction, after a fire some years ago |
Tom Weber
posted four photos with the comment:
Marlinton, West Virginia hosts a restored depot that was originally part of the Greenbrier Division of the C&O Railway.
Passenger service ended in 1958, and the C&O was granted authority to abandon the line in 1978.
An unidentified caboose, boxcar, and flatcar are on display on a small portion of the original train track outside the depot.
Greg Poeppel: This is actually a rebuilt replica of the original depot that burnt down in 2008.
Robert Chapman: Need restore wooden caboose.
Greg Poeppel: Robert Chapman Have tried for years. Nobody wants to pay for it.
