Albion, IL: Lost/Southern Depot

Corbin Butterick posted three photos with the comment: "These photos show the Albion Depot in Illinois, The line to the right is run by the Norfolk Southern Railroad, at the time it was just Southern, Albion used to have a Spur to a Brickyard which my grandfather used to work at, both the spur and the brick plant are long gone, only faint remnants remain. The Depot was torn down in the 60’s, and the siding which wrapped around the north side was ripped out in the mid 2010’s. The NS line still sees dozens of trains daily."

I find this one easier to use, https://prairie-research.maps.arcgis.com/.../index.html.... The red dots are the centers of the aerial photos from the late 1930s. My guess is the rectangle in the southwest quadrant of 5th & Terminal. I think the white building on an angle in the left background is the building just east of 5th Street in the aerial.

Southern Railway's 6682, a 4-6-2 steam locomotive built by Baldwin in 1909 and scrapped in 1949, pulls a passenger train past the passenger depot or train station at Albion, Illinois in February 1935. The Southern Railway later merged with Norfolk & Western to form the modern Norfolk Southern Railway.

Except for using a square instead of a rectangle, this map accurately marks the location of the depot. (To be fair, there isn't much room for a rectangle.)
