Marshall, NC: Music Venue/Southern Depot Destroyed by Hurricane Helene

(Satellite)

Street View, Jul 2021

Randall Hampton posted
SOU X696 was recently swept away by the French Broad River in Marshall, NC.  The station is gone too.  This is my picture from about two years ago.
Joe Boscoe: I found Marshall on the map and realized that the Craggy Mountain RR tourist line is in Woodfin between Marshall and Asheville. Does anyone know if their equipment was damaged by Helene?
Randall Hampton: Joe Boscoe I'm rejecting a lot of visitor comments on this from people who won't agree to our rules, but I get to read them. The short summary is, most of their track was in the flood zone, but the area where they store everything was not.
Daniel Grace: I believe the station was the home of a weekly Friday night local music jamboree for many many years running.. correct me if I’m wrong. .. it played a very unique and special role in Marshall…
Dennis DeBruler: Daniel Grace Three different bands every Friday night, https://www.marshalldepot.com/home

I saw the caboose on a YouTube video just down the road a few hundred feet, across the road, on its side with the trucks separated, but right next to it.

Randall Hampton shared with the comment: "None of this survived the flood.  It's vacant land now."
Erik Spoonmore: Caboose still there but on it's side, depot is gone. Drone video I saw yesterday https://x.com/GardensR4Health/status/1841558598582993335

I lost a drone video link. But it turns out there are some drone videos. On the left side of this screenshot is the caboose about a block downstream from its original location. Someone commented that it came to rest against a building. If so, they have cleaned up that building already.
