The modern railroad names are in the title of the duplicate.

The remains of the Illinois Terminal bridge over the Alton & Southern, NS and UP/KCS at Lenox Tower. Back in the day the UP rails were NYC and GM&O and the NS were Wabash. This is the northern terminus of the A&S.
Google Map's search does not find Mitchell, but Bing does. Google does label the area Mitchell. I provide a 3D Satellite link to the junction below so you don't have to search.

To understand this junction, let's first understand the four-railroad corridor that is south of the junction. Three of the railroads still exist. From the north, we have:
  • KCS+UP+Amtrak/Chicago&Alton+CB&Q
  • UP+KCS+Amtrak/Big4+C&EI
  • NS/Wabash
  • Illinois Terminal/Saint Louis & Alton (an interurban) This railroad is abandoned and it appears the RoW was used to make Nameoki Road a divided four-lane highway.
The first two routes turned north at this junction, but Big4 was on the west and CB&Q+C&A was on the east. Big4+C&EI also continued straight.

In this 1941 photo, we can see the corridor of four railroads in the lower-left corner. The Alton & Southern enters the photo around the middle of the bottom. In the middle of the photo we can see the bridge that carried the IT from the south side of the corridor to the north side. Bryan's photo shows one of the piers of that abandoned route. Below is the junction at full photo resolution. But I don't see how the Big4 crossed the CB&Q+C&A to get on the west side heading north. And their are several interchange tracks with their turnouts.

Because the top two routes on the southwest side of the junction and the two routes heading north have the same owners, they are now run one-way with the west/north route heading towards the St. Louis area and the other route heading outbound.

In this 3D Satellite view, I use an arrow to indicate where the tower is. Not only does the tower still exist, it is probably still is in service:

Bryan Monaco It is in service, at least as of August 2015.
