I wonder what the "square part" was north of the yard. Looking at the 1940 aerial, it must have been some other company. I wonder if they got a discount on their rail service by building to close to the yard.

HN Tower
ALS = Alton & Southern, which was jointly owned by C&NW and MoPac. So it is probably owned by UP now.
CSX now owns the east/west routes.

This is the base map for the topo viewer app. I knew it made the mistake of using older names instead of contemporary names, but labeling the ALS route as Santa Fe is simply wrong.
