James Stine: Little Sister Coal, Marion 5561 far away, W-1 wheel closest.

The railroad was the CB&Q.

I kept finding more 674 blobs. I had to zoom out quite a ways to capture the extent of the Little Sister mining.
ISGS St. David Topo Map

In fact, I had to download the quadrant to the north of St. David.

ISGS St. David Topo Map, p12

The Little Sister Mine was South and Northwest of St. David. It was south of Spoon River College, but I included it to help correlate this image with the topo map. The St. David, Saline County #22 and Big Creek #1 Mines were also in this area. What today are winding roads were the haul roads when the mine was active. The scale for this excerpt is 7/8" = 2000'.

I'm glad I looked at the ISGS topo maps because the ISGS map doesn't seem to be very accurate.

It appears the depot was in the northeast quadrant of Main St. and the tracks. 1938 aerial

Square Grain Elevator

There must have been a contractor in northern Illinois that sold people on square grain elevators because that is the only place I have seen them.
