Bryn Mawr, PA: NRPC/Pennsy Mainline Interlocking Tower

(3D Satellite)

NRPC = National Railroad Passenger Corp (This name comes of a USGS map.) Is that the formal name for SEPTA?

Any interlocking tower still standing in the 21st Century is worth noting.

I include some of the catenary equipment to note that this route is still electrified.

Ron Ricchezza posted five photos with the comment: "Ex-PRR Bryn Mawr(PA) tower.
Built in 1896, the tower was very similar to the one in Paoli, it was closed in 1994... There is a 4-track crossover here that allowed it to be the location of various short turn 'Bryn Mawr Locals'.

Scott Layman: They would never allow a structure to be built to the rails in this day and time.

3
John Katz: It was originally used as a railroad telephone booth for contacting the dispatcher.

[Why would they still have a position signal still standing? I thought they had to be replaced with "Darth Vader" signals to implement Positive Train Control (PTC). We can also see the western extent of the crossovers that Ron mentioned.]

This satellite image has all of the turnouts needed to support crossovers between four tracks.

I tried to get a view of the signaling bridge on the west end of the above image to see if they are still position signals. But I see that they are even more paranoid about kids throwing stuff on the tracks than they are in Chicago.

So I went with Plan B of using a 3D image of the bridge. But I still can't tell what type of heads the signal bridge is using.
