Low Line Road is part of the original route through town. When did they build the new route that used tunnels and bridges to avoid the bends in the river?

The 1892 B&O station in Pawpaw WV has survived, but probably doesn't have a bright future.  The community is very small and quite poor.
The main line was relocated a couple hundred feet away when it was rebuilt and upgraded to modern standards, with a bridge replacing the old grade crossing.  In this shot, you can see the original alignment on the right.

Thomas Dorman posted 17 photos with the comment: "Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Paw Paw station, West Virginia. One of about 130 structures designed for the B&O or subsidiaries by Baltimore architect E. Francis Baldwin. Built in 1882. According to the owner of the kayak rental next door, CSX still owns the B&O right-of-way through town, but has transferred ownership of the station building to the town. The town has kept a good roof on it, but otherwise just tries to keep the building boarded up and secure. 7 June 2025."

  1. The Nov 2023 issue of Trains magazine has an article about the Magnolia Cutoff (the new line).
