It opened in 1945 [EnergyJustice], but that must have been the old building that closed in 1994.
The new building, and smokestack, is a 556mw combined cycle plant that started up in 2003. It uses natural gas and fuel oil. [gem] The combined-cycle plant is owned by Aspen Generating. [power-technology]
The old plant must have been fuel oil because I could not find any evidence of coal pile storage and because these tanks have to be older than 2003.
Ron Franko posted Springdale Generating Station Paul R Harmon: I remember when 😞the station on the right side was running. It closed in 94 and we (at Armstrong PS) took care of the building for years . I looked inside it this year before I retired and it’s trashed. |

Dennis DeBruler commented on Ron's post I discovered that Springdale has two power plants. It also has Cheswick. https://www.google.com/.../data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x0... |
