Very close to the same angle: here’s a northbound train on the Illinois Central main line at Arcola, Illinois. Apropos of nothing, the date happens to be the eve of the Bicentennial. Image by Richard Koenig; taken July 3rd 1976.

The IC Depot is now used by the Chamber of Commerce. That makes it a lot easier to determine the location of the depot.

It appears that the tower (yellow T) was in the northeast quadrant of the crossing and the Pennsy depot land (blue D) is now occupied by a house.

CN must serve the grain elevator in this town because there is a yellow fall protector over the siding.

And there are some cuts of hoppers north of the town's road crossings.

[This was posted Mar 2026 and I was surprised that CN was still running the Death Star livery. Others were also. But Damien confirms this.]
Damien Clark: Trains A407 & A408 typically have IC units on them traveling from Gary IN to Centralia, IL.

A street view to confirm I have the correct location for the above reel.

Vandalia Railroad Depot in Arcola, Illinois. 1911
Rickey Ferguson: Based on the looks of this depot, I can only assume that this depot and these tracks are from the abandoned tracks that ran east/west through Arcola.
Can anyone confirm?
Rickey Ferguson: Also, neither railroad running through Arcola ran to Vandalia - certainly not directly. It makes me wonder how to connect the dots. Any help would be appreciated.

I think this source is wrong. The east/west route was Pennsy, but not Vandalia. It looks like it was on the former Terre Haute and Peoria. https://industrialscenery.blogspot.com/.../pennsys...
