I wonder when and why the depot that was standing in 1938 just northeast of this building was replaced.

It appears the foundation still exists. I think the brick building peaking out among the trees is the same one that is in the background of the photo.

The town hasn't grown much since 1938, but the grain storage sure has. There are farm service structures all over that town. Christian County FS on the southwest side is obviously a fertilizer supply company. And Prairieland AG LLC also supplies fertilizer.

I don't know if the concrete silos, metal bins and long building on the northeast side of town is part of the Legacy Grain Cooperative.

The main facility may be rail served because it has a fall protector.

Indeed, it was served with hoppers as recently as this month (Jan 2023). I placed the upper-right corner of this excerpt just past the cut that was in town because it is hard to see at a scale that includes all of the hoppers.

In addition to grain hoppers, it looks like there may be three hoppers of fertilizer in the town.

This is more evidence that NS is much more willing to serve grain elevators than is UP. (Attica and State Line City are two former-Wabash towns that are still served by NS.)
