Randolph C: Percy, IL: Southwestern Illinois Coal's Streamline Mine

(Satellite, the tipple is long gone)

Andy Zukowski posted
Southwestern Coal Corporation tipple, Steeleville, Illinois.
Black-and-white postcard on EKC (Eastman Kodak Company) paper, stamp box datable circa 1930-1950.
Myron Dudenbostel: The photo has the wrong town listed. This tipple had a Percy, Illinois address. It was located just outside the southwest corner of Percy. It was served by the GM&O from the east and the MP from the west.
Nicholas S Koba Jr.: was this to old Streamline Mine Tipple?

Thanks for the correction that it was at Percy instead of Steeleville.

It was the Streamline Mine.

Note that it produced between 1936-83 and that they mined both the Herron and Springfield seams. Also, section 36 was probably in township 5S 5W instead of 6S 5W as indicated by the other Illinois document.

It is strange that they marked the tipples for a bunch of smaller mines, but not for Index 782.

But Myron's comment and these topo maps showed me where to look.

This 1940 aerial photos allowed me to determine that the loadout was here:
