Union Electric Steel is now an international company, but the headquarters is in Carnegie, PA. [uniones-about] It is nice to see that there is still some heavy forging and machining done in America.
Roz Christopherson posted Union Electric Steel Corporation, Carnegie, PA Scott Gracie: Union Steel also has a smaller plant near Burgettstown, PA. Nolan Ryan: Scott Gracie Harmon Creek Plant is Melt, Forge, Rough Machining, it is actually pretty big. Carnegie is Hardening & finish machining. Scott Gracie: Nolan, so the Burgettstown plant is the Harmon Creek Plant. Jason Bonnema: Scott Gracie yea Bill Howald: I've worked on machines at both places, and the location at Valparaiso In. Jeff Williams: Pittsburgh & Ohio Central Railroad tracks in the picture I think. [According to a 1956 topo map it was the Pittsburgh, Chartiers & Youghiogheny Railroad. And according to a USGS map, that railroad still has that name.] |
