I wondered how Route 66 got through town that Pine Street would be part of it. By counting blocks from the crossing of the former IC (today's Constitution Trail) with the UP/GM&O. I was able to determine that the route came north on Main Street to Willow Street. It then went east on Willow, North on Linden and East on Pine until it got to the GM&O tracks. What is now labeled Frontage Road used to be part of Route 66. On this topo map, Route 66 is labeled STATE HIGHWAY NO 4. Today's US-51 is labeled STATE HIGHWAY NO 2.
