Philadelphia, PA: Pennsy Shore (FJ) Tower

(3D Satellite)

Street View, Jul 2019

FJ interlocking tower, also later referred to as Shore, was built in 1896 to control traffic on and off the Delaware River Railroad & Bridge Company branch which diverged from the main line to cross the Delair bridge and make connections to southern New Jersey subsidiaries. While the tower operation ceased some time ago the ornate wood frame structure has managed to survive along the former Pennsylvania Railroad main line.

A look inside Shore Tower. Operator managed East and Westbound rail traffic to the Delair Bridge. You can see the word Shore on the top right side of the control board.
