A&S = Alton & Southern (ALS) It was jointly owned by C&NW and MoPac. It is now a subsidiary of UP.

“The A&S line through Washington Park was its mainline from 
Valley (now Gateway) yard in East St. Louis to Mitchell, north of Granite City. There it 
connected to the C&EI, New York Central, Wabash, and GM&O. A&S RS3 #53 trundles
