Today's Pecatonica River used to be called Richland Creek, and that powered a grist mill and a sawmill, which were built in 1850-1851. The grist mill was town down in 1924, and a flood destroyed the dam so the mill pond disappeared. The general store that was built when the railroad arrived by 1887. Later, it became The Blue Room. Several comments on Chad's post talked about "The Blue Room." It was a bar. "The bar opened in 1933 and closed in 1981" [JournalStandard]
The building is still standing.
