Flushing, MI: Museum/GTW Depot

(Satellite)

That is a fancy depot for a relatively small town.

Today’s featured depot is the GTW station in Flushing 🚂
Flushing, located in Genessee County, was settled about 1835 approximately ten miles northwest of downtown Flint. A local saw mill was established at the same time, boosting economic and population growth.
Flushing was located on the Grand Trunk Western’s (GTW) branch from Durand to Saginaw/Bay City. The GTW depot was built around 1888. The depot served the community until the early 1970s. It was briefly a restaurant, but a fire ended that venture.
The depot is now home to the Flushing Area Historical Society & Museum , who took over ownership in 1984 and began restorations shortly thereafter.
