Oswego, NY: Port of Oswego Authority

(Satellite)

Not only does the Oswego Canal join Lake Ontario here, it has a salty port.

Here's a busy Oswego, NY harbor about 1905. Some interesting smaller vessels are shown.

I presume it is unloading salt. The grain elevator must be a recent addition because I could not find it in a satellite image.

Port of Oswego Authority posted four photos with the comment: "McKeil today at the port with a load of prime aluminum for the local plant. We are the first port on the Great lakes and one that is usually ice free for the entire year so can receive ships up till the seaway closure."
Frank Valls: It appears the IVER BRIGHT is also in port in the west berthing area. Two great photo opportunities today. Great sunlight conditions too. Great news and work having the Port stay open longer !

McKeil has special cranes to handle the aluminum ingots on pallets. I think this video was taken at a different port, but the unloading operation would be the same.
