La Crosse, WI: CB&Q Depots & Roundhouse and Grand Crossing Tower

In the background is the CB&Q Roundhouse, which I understand is gone now.
Pete Kranz: Last of the roundhouse came down in '81. Last of anything, the old freighthouse (later car department) was taken down just in the last several years.
Only thing left on the Milwaukee side is the old B&B building, which was part of that roundhouse complex. Today it's the CP yard office/terminal. Roundhouse there came down in '88.

Some remnants of the foundation are still visible.
I also noticed that the depot is still standing.
[I wonder what the arc on the right side of the circle in the above image was all about since the roundhouse was just half of a circle.]
Pete Kranz: Dennis DeBruler the beanery lasted longer than the depot. I think it's a law office/residence now. BN Credit Union is still right across from there. When I first hired out in early 90s, the car department building was all still there, as was part of the freighthouse. The lumber yard is business the Milwaukee once had. When the Screwy Line tried shutting down the LaX yard after the merger, the BN got all the local business that the Milwaukee once had. Today, of course, the CP is at least as busy at La Crosse, as the Milwaukee was there in the early 70s.

Thanks for the clarification. Google Maps labelled it as a depot. I noticed that the CB&Q had a spur that went down Rublee Street to the riverfront. Was their depot over by the river?
[Yes, but on 2nd Street. See the update below.]

I found the static display: https://maps.app.goo.gl/93JfpmF6TCAHo2Mm9
Pete Kranz: I see that Milwaukee, one of CB&Q's routes and the C&NW crossed there.

1963 La Crosse Quad @ 24,000
Pete Kranz: Dennis DeBruler originally, the GBW also crossed there, into the 1920's. Oak St is more or less over the Green Bay ROW, and the bike trail that runs north-south from River Rd to UWL is also Green Bay ROW.

Lacrosse CB&Q Depot
I believe this was served by L&SE via trackage rights on CB&Q.
It was demolished in 1970.
It was located at 2nd and Pearl Street (#200)
Holiday Inn is now located on that site.
Corrections welcome….
Mike Jamesson: THis is likely 2nd St. Downtown where the CB&Q passenger station was.. Right where Pearl and 2nd St meet at the La Crosse Center. The L&SE had a station near Green Bay St. Also near the Green Bay & Western station on Green Bay St . The L&SE did use the CB&Q tracs with rights to near Stoddard where their tracks began and they splut off the CB&Q. The L&SE also had a station in Stoddard. That building is still there but repuposed from last I saw it. 😀

Mike Bartels: Used until 1940 when passenger trains began using the new depot on the east side of town by the golf course.

This map shows CB&Q splitting off of L&SE just south of Market Street and the CB&Q doing street running up 2nd Ave.

The CB&Q had a small yard south of their depot.
