C&A Depot: (Satellite)
Richard Fiedler posted Robert Sullivan: Where was this in relation to the Alton Route (Jack Line) depot? Thomas Whitt shared |
Stan L. Maddox replied to Robert's question Robert Sullivan to answer your question, I created a map extract by splicing together portions of images 11 and 19 of the August 1914 Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps of Jacksonville IL, and added a blue arrow indicating the approximate location of the photographer and the direction they were facing. Please note that Sanborn maps typically do not include streetcar tracks, like the ones clearly visible in the photo running left to right. The map extract includes the Jacksonville Street Railway Car Barn for context, just out of the photo frame to the right (West) in the photo. https://www.loc.gov/resource/g4104jm.g019391914/?st=gallery |
Dennis DeBruler commented on Richard's share I noticed that the C&A Depot is extant. https://maps.app.goo.gl/B1ALUy3FemcamotS6 |
Andy Zukowski posted Gulf Mobile & Ohio Depot in Jacksonville, Illinois. 1976 Erik Spoonmore: GM&O tracks in the foreground and the CB&Q tracks in the back. This view is looking northwest. Joe Standley: Hey there everyone! It’s so cool seeing these photos and memories! I’m the chef and owner of Proud Richard's. We’re a newer restaurant (2 years old) that occupies the station now! We’re open Wednesday through Saturday. But if anyone would like a tour, give us a call and we can try to set something up! Richard Fiedler shared |
