Kadoka, SD: Museum/Milwaukee Depot and Lost Wood Grain Elevator

Depot: (Satellite)
Wood Elevator: (Satellite, it was torn down in 2022.)

The depot in on the right. When I went to find this wood elevator on the satellite map, I discovered that it is gone. That would explain why the conveyor is no longer connected to the headhouse.

View of the old Milwaukee Road passenger depot at Kadoka, South Dakota circa 1985. The station, built in 1906, is still standing and today houses the Kadoka Depot Museum.

They have built a new elevator that made the old one obsolete.

The Milwaukee had to deal with some hills and dales southwest of town.

The landscars of the wye that we see on the topo map are still very visible.

I fired up Google Earth to get a better location for the wood grain elevator. Two of the three old bins had recently been knocked down.
