J&B Junction, just north of Mt Jewett station looking north in the 1920’s. This was the connection between the Erie RR Bradford Branch and BR&P mainline, which diverts on the right. The Erie branch would cross Kinzua Viaduct to get to Bradford, while the BR&P line bypassed the Kinzua Creek valley and took a less steep descent to Bradford. In a southward direction, the line was owned by the Erie, but leased, double tracked and improved by the BR&P for heavier traffic. |
Bradford and Mt. Jewett are just below the New York border. Note the Erie route next to the B&O route.
The B&O route is now owned by the BPRR.
