The south side of the sign must have recently been repainted. The next oldest view, Mar 2021, looks like this instead of the "flames" sign in the post at the top of these notes.

I started looking for the posted sign by "cruising" Historic 66 from the east side of town. I passed some motor hotels on the east side. This one was fancy for its day because it had two stories.
