Barry Sell posted Damage to the Municipal Car Ferry Terminal Photographer Brown & Rehbaum Photo of the damage done to the Municipal Car Ferry Terminal in Milwaukee by the car ferry CITY OF SAGINAW 31 (blt 1929). Date of photo 1943-12-03 |
Because of this photo (via uwm via uwm "CITY OF SAGINAW 31 (yr. built 1929) being loaded with rail cars, parking lot to the left of the loading operation. At dock - CITY OF SAGINAW 31, background CITY OF MILWAUKEE (yr. built 1930)"), I believe the dock was the "notches" in the northwest corner of Jones Island in the topo map below. The building below appears in the right background of that photo and helped confirm the docks location. Like the GTW car ferry docks that the CITY OF MILWAUKEE was probably headed to, the Pere Marquette interchanged the freight cars with the C&NW.
