1 Pictured is what i believe is the depot for the Milwaukee Road which crossed the Chicago and Northwestern in Arion. The Illinois Central mainline to Council Bluffs also ran through Arion--parallel to the Chicago and Northwestern tracks. |

Looking westbound on the Chicago and Northwestern mainline with the Milwaukee Railroad crossing in the foreground--the Milwaukee Road ran to the left northwesternly up to Sioux City and to the right southeastly to Manilla. The Illinois Central mainline would be to the right if the unknown photographer. I believe the tower was taken out in the summer of 1970. |

The Milwaukee Road's Sioux City Subdivision crossed the Illinois Central (now CNR) and the Chicago & Northwestern (now UP) at Arion, Iowa.
Although the location Milwaukee Road depot is shown on the track diagram and the picture corresponds with that location; the place has changed so much over the years that it's difficult to find where any remnants of the Milwaukee Road might be today.
Sometimes, the station locations shown on the FRA map can help determine the location of demolished structures like the IC or CNW stations in this case, but this time, it doesn't appear to be that helpful.
Dennis DeBruler: What is a link for the FRA map? It sounds useful.
