Paul Griffith posted Here's a picture of the inside of the Big Rapids Depot before the bike shop moved in. Old ticket booth is to the right and the street is at the front of the lower curved window. The interior was in amazing good shape except for a major roof leak and the floor. |

Paul Griffith posted, cropped Here is a current [May 13, 2025] picture of the Big Rapids Depot. And Yes, a bike shop is now in this space that just opened a month ago. Also, just south of the Depot on two acres the City bought from the DNR, is a $850,000 Depot Park that will get completed in five weeks. AND last week Wednesday, the last mile of the 92-mile White Pine Trail was paved - it took 27 years, but we got there!! (I'm Vice Chair of the Friends of the White Pine Trail.) James Winslow: The old depot looks GREAT. It was one of an amazing three GR&I depots at Big Rapids at its peak (lower BR at Maple St., Upper BR at Baldwin St., and a small structure at the roadhouse/turntable/car shop site. |

It looks like there is a wood grain elevator in the left background of the above photo. And it is extant.
