That must have been the freight house on the left.
A view of the backside of the museum. The freight house is on the right in this view.

EnchantedMountains "The Rail Museum building was acquired in 1980, a vandalized vacant shell that had stood idle for over 20 years. Using a combination of private donations, government funds, and volunteer labor, the building was brought back to its original appearance. From the brick-walled baggage room to the multi-windowed "Ladies Retiring Room", everything in the building is either a restored original or an exact duplicate based on the original architectural plans." |

Salamanca, NY played host to 3 Class 1 railroads, and had 3 major depots at one time; 2 remain. "
East Salamanca" was detailed in previous post.
Here is the 1912 "Salamanca" depot on the Buffalo Rochester & Pittsburgh/B&O that now houses the Salamanca Rail Museum.
Mike Felerski: I’ve visited there, it’s a great little museum.

Stan Carlson: Currently the museum is closed, I’m not sure if it will be open this year. I’m not part of the museum anymore.

Stan Carlson commented on Jim's post I was an original member of this society, and was assistant director for years, and interim director for a time. I have a large collection of railroad items, mainly B&O RR and BR&P Ry, and I set up displays with much of my collection, along with donated items. Here I am giving a speech to the B&O Historical Society in 2016. They toured the old Buffalo Division of the B&O that summer. |
