Look who paid a visit to Essexville, MI yesterday.  Marine Traffic shows her still there.  Shore leave in Bay City is the best! 🙂
[Since the group is public, I'll just mention that some of the comments describe how the air makes the cement flow like a liquid.]

Todd Shorkey posted four drone photos with the comment: "The tug Samuel de Champlain and cement barge Innovation on the Saginaw River, just before departing the Lafarge Cement Dock in Essexville.  12/14/21"

Consumers Energy plans to retire both 272mw units in 2023. This plant receives coal by ship instead of train. [gem]

[Evidently before 2008 they tore out an old flue gas treatment facility and installed a new one that used "pulse jet fabric filter systems."]

[Have the four units on the right already been taken out of service? I could not find any info on them.]

Roger Riblett shared Andrew Dean Detroit's post of nine photos with the comment: "Paul R. Tregurtha unloading coal at Dan E. Karn Power Plant. 8-1-2021"
Dennis DeBruler
I'm glad he caught this action because the plant is supposed to close in 2023.

The Algoma Intrepid was in Essexville to unload at the Wirt Sand and Stone Dock and I was able to capture her turning around in the middle of the Saginaw River!

This must be Wirt Sand and Stone Dock. I wonder what needs to be covered. Do they also handle salt?
