Princess Anne, MD: Concrete Grain Elevator Silo Burst

(Satellite)

Pocomoke City Volunteer Fire Company posted three photos with with the comment:
On 10/11/21 at 5:19 pm Tower 1 was requested to assist Princess Anne Station 5 with a reported commercial structure fire with explosion and collapse. Units arrived to find a partially collapsed grain silo. There was no active fire upon arrival. Crews were able to secure the gas and electric to the facility. After a safety check, all site personnel were accounted for.
Tower 1 cleared shortly after arrival. The incident was later placed under control by command and the incident turned over to the plant manager and safety officer.

Nora Hoffman: This is a Mountaire Farms location.

No one was injured. Per some comments, the concrete silo burst and the avalanche of grain took out a dryer. However, several comments claimed that the dryer was the source of the problem.

RescueTechs, LLC posted two photos with the comment: "Commercial grain silo collapse on the eastern shore of Maryland a few hours ago..."
Marc Mcclure shared
Lonnie Bathurst: Looks like the bottom of the silo gave way and took out the dryer. The dryer is a Zimmerman brand. Does anyone know the name of the town and the grain elevator?

It is south of Princess Anne, MD, and it is one of the Mountaire Farms locations. It is good that it was one of their two small silos that broke. Their big concrete silo is huge. While looking for this elevator, I found a lot of long narrow buildings in the area that are used to grow chickens.

Here is an example of the number of buildings to raise chickens that are in the area.
