RI Roundhouse: (Satellite)
RI Depot: (Satellite)MoPac Depot: (Satellite, the depot and RoW land is now part of the parking lot for the library.)
The 1959 topo more clearly marked where the RI depot was. That is how I quickly found out that it is extant. It also shows the location of the MoPac depot. The parking lot for the library wiped out the RoW for the abandoned MoPac, but they do have a static display of a MoPac caboose.
Matt Chaney posted Railroad roundhouse at Eldon, Mo., 1909, for the Rock Island Line. Digital image from the Postcard Collection, State Historical Society of Missouri. James Smith shared RI turntable, MO J Mike Wester shared Tony Bishop: Consolidations (the two 1600's), Ten Wheelers (the other "teens") and a 4-4-0 off to the right. Raymond Storey posted ELDON MO |

Dennis DeBruler commented on Mike's second share I included the toxic pond in the lower-left corner and Manor Drive in the top middle to help correlate this 1945 ariel with today's satellite images. The building is gone, but the turntable still exists and we can still see the foundation of the roundhouse. [AR1BL0000020071] https://maps.app.goo.gl/TbafpAe5t5X6Ks9S8 |
