Kelso, CA: and Kelso, WA: UP Depots

Kelso in California, a ghost town

Mark Mcgowan posted three photos with the comment: "Union Pacific's Kelso Depot as it appeared in 1997. It was transferred to the National Park Service about this time. Its restoration was completed in 2005 and it now serves as a museum and headquarters for the Mojave National Preserve."
Jim Kelling: Great place to visit.
Mark Mcgowan: Jim Kelling it's been closed nearly two years [as of Nov 2024] for an HVAC issue. Crazy!
Jim Kelling shared
Kelso California (Union Pacific Overland Route)
Bob Klempner: I spent lots of time in there and ate lots of good meals there when I lived in Kelso working for UP. By the way not the UP Overland Route, but the Salt Lake Route.

Kelso in Washington, an Amtrak station

I didn't notice Jim's comment about "California," and Google Maps offered a Kelso in Washington instead of California because the one in California is a ghost town. This town not only has its depot, Amtrak is still using it as a train station.

"The 1912 Northern Pacific Railroad depot was renovated in the 1990s as a multimodal transportation center." [Amtrak]

I wonder when they added the clock tower. This side of the building would have been the freight handling part of the depot.

And this passenger waiting part is still...

Did GN and UP share the depot since they evidently shared the tracks through town and since this is the only station marked on this map?
