I recognize Carpentersville as the town that has the bridge that is falling into the Fox River.
Chicago & North Western Historical Society posted Once posted in May 2016, this A.W. Johnson photo taken in September 1936 of the C&NW depot in Carpentersville, Illinois is a favorite of this poster. The line which came up from Elgin along the Fox River on the way to Algonquin, Crystal Lake, McHenry, Richmond, Genoa City, Lake Geneva and even Williams Bay Wisconsin is now a bicycle path from Elgin to Richmond and across to a bit of the old K-D line. John P Dalen: Where was this relative to where Otto is now and the old industrial spur bridge across the Fox? |
Dennis DeBruler answered John's question. Judging from this 1939 aerial photo, it was east of the mainline and about halfway between Main and Washington Streets, https://maps.app.goo.gl/sGU3pubk4ogtCyw96. |
