We Work the Waterways posted four photos with the comment:
Mammoth Coal Processing Plant and Loading Dock is the lone coal dock in the London pool on the Kanawha River. Its location is at Mile 84 about 1 mile above London Lock & Dam.Here we see Amherst Madison's M/V DR. EDWIN H. WELCH departing downbound with 3 loads strung out. Also, Mammoth’s shift boat, the M/V MADISON NICOLE, owned and operated by Superior Marine Ways, Inc. is on the location as well operating the fleet.
Gary Wendell Photography posted the same four photos in a different in my preferred order with the comment: "Amherst Madison M/V Dr. Edwin H. Welch keeeping the lights on. Mammoth Coal Processing Plant, London WV. Also in the picture is Superior Marine’s M/V Madison Nicole."
Jake Sails: Fun fact: keeping the lights on with coal. To light a traditional lightbulb with coal is so inefficient that 99 train cars full of coal are lost as heat and smoke while 1 car full powers the bulb’s light. 💡

I looked at the webpage that Jake referenced. 41% for a modern, multi-stage steam turbine with reheat struck me as way too low. So I did a quick Google search for "steam turbine efficiency." At the top of the results was the following:So they picked the smallest number they could find rather than the appropriate 90+% number. It makes one wonder how many other errors are in this Penn State course.
