Edward Weber posted two photos with the comment: "Just returned from our local history room in Freeport, Ill. Here are some pictures from Dakota, Ill. Now this area is a park. I never realized there were tracks next to the stock yard."

This town had a small railyard. Is that because of the stockyards? Normally, a town has just a siding and/or a house track.

It is nice that the former railroad property has become a park in this town.

I checked out the area where I think the stockyards were located. Because of the ventilator on the roof, I think the building on the left is a remnant of the north grain elevator. I wonder what the foundation wall was for. The water tower in the background is gone in the Aug 2023 street view.
