Wilmington IL - Chicago & Alton Railroad Depot - ca 1910 Real Photo Postcard
This depot was demolished Feb. 7, 2012 for lack of funds to move it. I saw and photographed it in 1969. It didn't look much like this photo as it was painted completely in grey. Even the windows were painted. Look on YouTube if you want to see the depot being demolished.

When I do one more click to the North, I get a new view that does not have the depot.

Kenneth Luzbetak posted four photos with the comment: "Wilmington, ILL Depot,  Chicago & Alton/GM&O.  Torn down due to track upgrades. My photos, 2011."
Everett Lueck: The foundation was limestone from the quarries at Pontiac, same as the Bloomington shops. That dates the station to the very early part of the Chicago and Alton.
Robert Fiedler: Everett Lueck I believe the depot was constructed in 1869.
Richard Fiedler: When the Alton was bought by the B&O the papers were signed in this depot.
[This was wiped out for a second track as part of the high-speed upgrade.]

"On February 7&8, 2012, one of the oldest depots in Illinois was torn down. This is to make room for a high speed rail line.  The depot was built for the Chicago & Alton in 1868."
