Tim Starr posted I found this picture in the NYS Archives years ago, labeled Lackawanna Steel Plant 1908. I'm assuming this refers to the Bethlehem Steel subsidiary that was established south of Buffalo in what became the city of Lackawanna. The only two roundhouses in that section (Woodlawn) were of the South Buffalo Railroad, which only had a few stalls, and the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern, which was a half circle. So I'm assuming this is the LS&MS. Richard Shulby: It is the old LS&MS roundhouse. It was located at 42°49'2.16"N 78°50'10.37"W. The South Buffalo roundhouse is still standing, just south of there at 42°48'50.60"N, 78°50'10.49"W. Thanks for posting- Great photo! |
