The Uncensored City posted, cropped There may be a light at the end of the (train) tunnel for the long-suffering Ma & Pa Railroad roundhouse on Falls Road. The early 1900s structure, pieces of which collapsed in 2014, may become home to the Baltimore Streetcar Museum. The organization just received an initial $165,000 city grant to make structural improvements and repairs to the historic building. More grants and more private donations will be needed for the plan to come to fruition. The museum’s current location, just down the road, is becoming too small. I recall this building looking dilapidated even in the 1990s, so this is welcome news. 🤞 Kevin T Schroeder: Problem was years of salt and poor maintenance did the structure in. A truck ran into one of the beams and pretty much condemned the building. The City knew for years they would be backing operations out of this facility so they didn’t see the need to maintain it. The concept art looks good for the museum. I know it has been a longtime goal to get the building. I was down there recently and didn’t realize they had to construct a fence due to the vandalism. This was always a great hidden gem Dennis DeBruler shared |
