There may be a light at the end of the (train) tunnel for the long-suffering Ma & Pa Railroad roundhouse on Falls Road.
The early 1900s structure, pieces of which collapsed in 2014, may become home to the Baltimore Streetcar Museum.
The organization just received an initial $165,000 city grant to make structural improvements and repairs to the historic building. More grants and more private donations will be needed for the plan to come to fruition. The museum’s current location, just down the road, is becoming too small.
I recall this building looking dilapidated even in the 1990s, so this is welcome news. 🤞
Kevin T Schroeder: Problem was years of salt and poor maintenance did the structure in. A truck ran into one of the beams and pretty much condemned the building. The City knew for years they would be backing operations out of this facility so they didn’t see the need to maintain it.
The concept art looks good for the museum. I know it has been a longtime goal to get the building. I was down there recently and didn’t realize they had to construct a fence due to the vandalism. This was always a great hidden gem

Where legends roamed. I’d love to snoop around the stalls.

here's how she looks about a month ago [from Aug 12, 2025]. Glad to hear she's finally getting some love.
Tracey Brown: Charles Li I bet that white area along the roof was once a clerestory.
Lee Con Carne: And now the Sisson Street garbage dump may move next door. Boo!
Michel Galitzin: Lee Con Carne I hope Odette Ramos fights this stupid idea to cut off Falls Road and put the transfer station next to the proposed new home of the Streetcar Museum. It would fly in the face of all the work the Friends of The Jones Falls has been working to accomplish.
[Additional comments talk about the work that has been done to removed invasive species from Jones Falls, which is a little river along Falls Road.]

The M&P came into town along the west side of Johns Hopkins University.
