Elevator: (Satellite)
I spotted the grain elevator because of the shadow it casted on the depot's location. This satellite image must be recent because the bins we see in the Aug 2023 view are gone.

Rick Walls posted Baltimore and Ohio Railroad depot in Metcalf, Illinois at the intersection of the Nickel Plate Road. Date unknown. My mother was a station agent there for many years. On the Indianapolis division that ran from Hamilton, Ohio to Beardstown, Illinois. David L White: I walked all around that diamond one time some twenty-five years ago, of course, the NKP had been shortlined by then and CSX was still operating the B&O line. I wondered then what was there at one time but this is the first picture I've ever seen, I'm guessing that's the NKP on the right and B&O on the left. Those ladies dresses make me guess that's possibly the turn of the century to 1910 or so? Rick Walls: David L White The B&O is indeed on the left. I remember the depot being larger than it appears in the photo. I think taking the photo from this side distorts the actual size. |
