Aerial view of the old Chicago & North Western Railway passenger station and yard at Canby, Minnesota circa 1905. The depot was replaced by a new station in 1945. (C&NW Historical Society Archives) Robert Chitwood: The brisk/stucco replacement station has a museum. |
Robert's comment above tells us that this building was a replacement rather than a heavy remodeling job. (Note the feed mill in the left background. There is more about that below.)
This map accurately marks the location of the depot as just northwest of King of Trails Street and between the main line and the north siding.

The grain elevators have consolidated into one big grain elevator and feed mill. The facility on the right is the feed mill. The storage elevator is big considering that the C&NW abandoned this town decades ago.
As the elevator grew, the bins got bigger.
The two "Feed Mill Rd" labels and the "CHS Parking Lot" label are interesting.
The feed mill is affiliated with Purina.
