Big news and a win for preservation. It will take significant funds to restore the structure, so donations will be critical.
Charlie Smith: Be cool if they could find the old fog horn.
Michael Lackore: Charlie Smith The old diaphone foghorn isn't missing. It's still around but privately owned and was removed from the lighthouse. The electrical service to the lighthouse wasn't sufficient to run it anymore and needed updating. The USCG, City of Duluth and the owner couldn't come to agreement on how to fund that upgrade or who would be liable for maritime accidents resulting from it's operation. There was some disgruntlement about hours of horn operation as well. So, the owner of the horn removed it.
Max Patrick: Will be a nice Airbnb!
David Schauer: Max Patrick The lack of running water/toilet sadly limits its use beyond interpretative functions.
