Many of the old stations I have seen were along US-66. This one was along US-34.
Note only is it old enough to have glass pumps, it is just a gas station. It is not a service station. (No garage doors for service bays.)

| Iowa Road Trip posted Phillips 66 gas station in Creston, Iowa. This is one of the original Phillips 66 gas stations in Iowa and there’s a connection between Creston and the Phillips brothers who founded the Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville, Oklahoma in 1917. But his was a Standard Gas Pump, hand pumped and drain the amount you want, I remember from back in the 40s. 🤔 Bruce Jones: Frank Phillips, the founder of Phillips 66 Oil Company was from the Creston area before moving to Oklahoma and getting into the oil business. The book "The Oil Man" details his life and the Birth of Phillips Petroleum. Very interesting read. |
