Taylor Rush posted A cabinet card featuring the yards and roundhouse of the Burlington & Missouri River Railroad at Ravenna, Nebraska. The line was incorporated in Iowa in 1852, and was acquired by the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy in 1872 but was maintained as a subsidiary. In October of 1886 the the city of Ravenna was incorporated when the new line extended into Buffalo County. This image likely dates from the late 19th century. Note the interesting shadow lettering on the refrigerator car in the foreground. Original photo acquired from the G. B. Abdill collection. Taylor Rush shared Mike Bartels: The Burlington & Missouri River built its roundhouses in five-stall increments. Two sections here separated by a firewall. Looks like the fifth stall on the right was a shop. Taylor Rush shared John E Bush: Crew change point many years. My son laid over there many times. |

Dennis DeBruler commented on Taylor's first share This topo map showed me where to look. Some remnants of the foundation are still visible: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Y48yWq88qFWvjjjM6. 1953/76 Ravenna Quad @ 24,000 |
Not only does the railyard have most of its tracks, they are used. And it appears that three locomotives are dedicated to local rail service.
