Yeah I know what. Stupid idea cause o it’s going to cost to much money but it would be worth it cause I keep it going produce power for people that appreciate coal ."

the 127-acre industrial site is for sale.
"The facility was originally built by Union Carbide as a captive generating facility for a nearby plant." It was built in the 1930s. |
It was served by an industrial spur off the NYC mainline.

This weeks video takes a look at the now-demolished Ashtabula Power Plant.
Built in 1929, this a nine-unit generating station consumed more than 2000 pounds of coal per day. After years of decline, the plant was fully shuttered in 2015. Demolition began in 2025 for what is now a business park.
Chris Scheetz: This is the original plant A/B, it had 5 units, 4 original from the 1930s with their own boiler, and 1 large unit from the late 50s with a seperate boiler. In the 70s after they decommissioned the original boiler, they built a 'third' (second) plant down the road a bit, with 4 new units. So what you're seeing here is technically 2 power plants in 1, it has 2 boilers, 2 hopper systems, 2 control rooms. The 3rd is a separate building all together.
