Rockford, IA: Preserved/Rock Island Depot and Grain Elevator

Depot: (Satellite)
Elevator: (Satellite)

John Harker posted two photos with the comment: "Ted Schnepf photographed this Rock Island south bound freight passing the Rockford, Iowa depot on December 27, 1978.  GP38-2 4346 with a U-boat, maybe a U25B, were pulling this freight.  Ted must have been standing on a covered hopper on the elevator siding to get this view.  I scanned and edited this image from a Kodachrome slide in my collection.  Attached for reference is an aerial view with a red arrow pointing to the depot."
Thomas Cobb: Is this line still in service?
Leon Marker: Thomas Cobb Iowa Northern/ Canadian National.

Note the cut of cars at the elevator. Iowa Northern is willing to provide just a few cars at a time.
Dennis DeBruler commented on John's post
Not only is the depot extant, but the train order semaphores also still exist.
[But then I deleted this comment because someone else had already provided this street view.]
