Pennsy Roundhouse: (Satellite, even the roads have changed.)
Dave Kuntz posted Roundhouse that used to be for trains, and now is for computer programmers, at Hazelwood Greens. Jim Kelling: Former B&O roundhouse Jim Kelling shared Former roundhouse on Second Avenue in Pittsburgh Richard Shulby: Jim Kelling- Thanks for reposting this- had not seen an aerial since the rebuild. I believe you'll find that this was the old Monongahela Connecting RR roundhouse. The B&O had 2 different roundhouses at the south end of Hazelwood, and another downtown near the Liberty bridge and First Avenue- all gone now. Jim Kelling: Richard Shulby thanks for the correction! |
Dennis DeBruler commented on Richard's comment Thanks for confirming that it was part of the Connecting RR. I noticed that Pennsy had a roundhouse on the other side of the river. I include the Hot Metal Bridge because the roads have changed a lot over there. But the bridge hasn't moved. 1951/1951 Pittsburgh East Quadrangle @ 1:24,000 |
Dave Kuntz posted four images with the comment:
Emblematic of Pittsburgh's' shift from heavy industry into the technology sector, we see the OneValley Roundhouse, once the grimiest part of the railroad, where programmers now "chug" away at the next generation of innovations. Although the rail carts at the front look more like the Brio trains my daughter plays with, I am glad the center has openly acknowledged their railroad heritage. The drone photos are mine whereas the interior schematics are courtesy of their website - see more info at https://www.gbbn.com/work/the-roundhouse-at-hazelwood-green/

In addition to various co-working options, it has an event space.
