Dave Frey posted two photos with the comment: "This is the C&O Cheviot yards roundhouse circa 1948. Photos I scanned from the Cincinnati Railroad Club archives. Cheviot is a neighborhood on the West side of Cincinnati. This yard ceased operation around 1980. This is all big box shopping...Sad."
Gary Maidment: I like the funnel on the smokestack, presumably to collect any cinders and direct them safely into the gondola.
b: Gary Maidment Yes, this facility was near a neighborhood. They didn't want the smoke and ash coming down on the neighbors.
